  IMPACT project highlights:

IMPACT project has clocked it one year period of implementation with a number of achievements registered as the outcomes that include; the number young people provided with relevant health information and are able to identify risky behaviors, the number of HIV positive pregnant mothers accessing and  completing the required 4 visit antenatal services together with the husbands. The other area of outcomes is noticed in the number of mothers including HIV clients involved in Mama Saves activities within the local churches.

The establishment of active and operational mother buddies in all the 10 churches has put the project close to the attainment of its purpose of creating a community HIV/AIDS  based support mechanism in ending HIV new infection, especially to new born babies.

The stakeholders of the project at different levels also had the opportunity to learn and share their experiences on the relevancy of the project to their own situations and how they can conceptualize and own it.

The project implementation progress is however rightly meeting the project set outcomes of;

  1. Increased risk perception among young people in target communities;
  2. Increased uptake of Antenatal Care services.
  3. Increased Male involvement in Maternal and Family care and health seeking behavior;
  4. Strengthened household economy and food security among target mothers and community at large.

 

This report therefore entails the work done within the period from April 2016 – March 2017 and highlights the progress made, achievements attained and recommendations developed to improve project implementation.
